When Jennifer Mistry Bansiwal Opened Up About Her Casting Couch Experiences; Shared She Was Told Not To Reveal Her Married Status

Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah has been making the headlines time and again for its mistreatment of actors. After being with the show for over 15 years, actress Jennifer Mistry Bansiwal, who essayed the role of Mrs. Roshan Singh Sodhi, accused producer Asit Kumarr Modi and two others of sexual harassment. However, this is not the first time she has opened up about it. For those who don’t know apart from being an actor, she also runs her own YouTube channel where she had once talked about her casting couch experience.
It was about a year ago, when Jennifer through her video had spoken about casting couch in the entertainment industry. She had shared how people had advised her against revealing her marital status as it would hamper her chance of getting her an acting job. She had stressed on the fact that, while casting couch exists everywhere, the one happening in the world of entertainment is highlighted more because of the glaring eyes of the audience. Further in the video she goes on to share how she had to struggle for over 4.5 years as people would react negatively after knowing that she was married. She also revealed how once she was told to spend more time with the producers to get certain roles.

Talking about her ongoing case, the incident that urged her to take action against the makers of the show happened on March 7. She had informed the makers earlier that she wanted a half day as it was her wedding anniversary and Holi and her daughter was really excited to celebrate the day with her. However, instead of letting her leave, project head Sohail Ramani and executive producer Jatin Bajaj threatened her. They proceeded to send her a notice on March 24 stating that “I left the shoot and they are losing money. This was ulta chor Kotwal ko Dante. She countered the notice by filing a case against them. She has now demanded an apology from the makers for their behaviour and dismissed their claims of her doing all this just for the money.
